Abstracting patterns is a process of transformation. I incorporate images of culture and nature found in my everyday experience. I take photos of both my urban diverse neighborhood and the natural landscape. These images become blueprints for paintings.
Rigorous painting with attention to detail and organization is a response to the excesses and inconsistencies of life.
My paintings evolve through multiple layers. Carefully painted forms are spread over an expressive and disjointed under painting to ensure a unified entity, an equilibrium in which conflict and narrative are obliterated.
